THE DEEPER STORY 🦈
Eleven million gallons. When it opened, this was the largest aquarium in the world — it’s still the biggest in the United States. The tank you walked under, Ocean Voyager, holds 6.3 million gallons on its own and was built around one animal: the whale shark, the biggest fish that has ever lived. This is the only aquarium outside Asia where you can see one.
That glowing wall at the end is 61 feet wide, 23 feet tall, and two feet thick. And the 100-foot tunnel is why the sharks kept flying overhead — you were standing on the floor of their ocean, looking up.
