TRAVEL TIPS

PACKING AND TRAVEL TIPS

  • Use our recommended packing list as a check list or make your own for packing.
  • Put student’s full name on personal items.
  • Pack light, try not to over pack. Try as well to mix and match your clothes. A common mistake is to take unnecessary toiletries, too many clothes, etc. Have in mind that students will have to carry their own luggage.
  • Use Ziploc bags to hold (3 ounces or less) toiletries that could leak.
  • Pack extra plastic bags for storing wet swim suits or dirty clothes.
  • Important items and travel essentials such as: passport, medication, prescriptions, Id, a change of clothes, tooth brush are recommended to be put on a carry-on luggage, in case airlines misplace your checked luggage.
  • Remember that your ID must match your airline ticket.
  • Tag all your bags (checked bags and carry-ons)

ELECTRONIC DEVICES DURING THE TRIP

Though there is virtually no time that personal electronics (ie. video games, music players, etc.) can be used during the tour, they may be enjoyed during your flight and while you are at the hotel. (Note: experience has taught this savvy traveler that the best way not to lose something is not to bring it on a trip)

USE OF CELLPHONES

For a more enjoyable trip and as a courtesy to others, we recommend the use of cell phones only during your free time or at the hotel.

LUGGAGE

Before travelling, the participants are responsible to check with the airline, the most up to date extra fees, and luggage allowance with all the information on weight and measures restrictions for luggage, for each specific flight booked.

Check Luggage

For domestic flights in general airlines allow passengers to check the first luggage free of charge and a second luggage is allowed with an extra fee. However we do recommend to limit your luggage to one piece per participant as it might be difficult for THE TRAVELS to accommodate extra or oversize luggage. Please check this link www.luggagelimits.com

THE TRAVELS cannot be responsible or assume liability for extra fees or inconveniences imposed by the airlines due to oversize luggage, extra luggage or their luggage policies, neither can assume liability for loss or damage of luggage of personal effects,  theft. We recommend that each participant acquire a proper insurance to cover the eventualities listed above. Please note that any additional fees applied by the airline regarding luggage are neithercollected by The Travels, nor included in your Tour Fee.

Carry-on Luggage

In general airlines allow one carry-on and one personal item in the main cabin. We recommend to use a backpack or day bag as your carry-on, since in most of the motor coaches it is difficult to store the wheeled carry-on bags in the passengers area. Have in mind that when on the road with our coach, a large carry-on luggage or hard one, must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach and may not be accessible during the daytime travel.

As recommended on Packing Tips, we advise to keep your travel essentials (ID, medication, one change of clothes, eye glasses, sun glasses) in your carry-on as well as valuable items such us money, cameras, cam recorders, iPods. This may avoid any inconvenience in the event that your luggage is delayed.

Toiletries essentials are also allowed on your carry-on bag, however the Transportation Security Administration limits the amount of liquids that each passenger can bring in their unchecked luggage and it is a single 1-quart-sized zip-top clear plastic bag with 3-ounce bottles or less. This restrictions apply to any liquids or gels.
